The Roadbook Rallies are based on the more traditional veteran and historic rallies. They have a fixed start point, route, and finish point. In addition to this there is an “Ideal Time” to complete the rally in.

In order to compete it is wise to have a co-driver with you to read off the directions from the road book. Useful items to have with you: a clock or stopwatch, calculator, clipboard (to hold the Roadbook), and a pen and paper for notes.

The actual Roadbook is based on “Tulip” symbols, these are symbols that show you what the next direction change will be, the distance to that change, and notes relating to the direction change.

It may seem confusing, but once you understand the basics you will be eager to get out on the road. A short introduction to the Roadbook will be given to you at the start point.

At the end of the rally you receive a questionnaire containing questions about things you would have seen en-route or at the unmanned control points. You get points for correct answers in the questionnaire, how close you arrived to the “Ideal Time”, and the distance driven. The winner of the Roadbook Rally is the one with the highest score.

We look forward to seeing you at the next planned Scatter Rally.
