The following is an explaination on how to read the Scatter Rally Roadbook and how it is used in the rally.
The Scatter Rally Roadbook is based on Tulip symbols; these are simple diagrams showing the next change in direction. All Tulip symbols used in the Roadbook will have a DOT representing the car and an ARROW showing the direction you will take.

All Tulip symbols are read bottom to top. The DOT indicates your car, the diagram shows what you see out the front window of the car and the direction you will be going.
The following is a typical Tulip symbol showing a 4-way intersection, you approach the intersection from the bottom, where the DOT is, STOP and make a LEFT turn. Note the STOP symbol, when appropriate road symbols and information symbols will be shown both to ensure safe driving and to help you recognise you are at the right place.

The following map shows the route the rally takes, this is only for explaining how the Roadbook works, you won’t receive a route map at the actual rally.

To complete a Scatter Rally using the Roadbook you will need: a car, driver, co-driver, and a pen. Useful items to have would be a clipboard to hold the Rallybook on, a stopwatch, and a calculator.
The following is the Scatter Rally Roadbook explaining the above route.

1: At the starting point you must write down the mileage from your car and the time from the Scatter Rally Clock. This is important as it is used for scoring and you will need this information to ensure you are arriving and leaving the control points at the correct time.
2: Leave the start area and turn LEFT. Note the mileage on the left of the sheet has been 0.00, this will now change.
3: Drive 0.3 km (300m), at the T-intersection, with Yield sign, turn RIGHT. There is a sign pointing to CC Hoganas.
4: Drive 0.2 km (200m), follow sharp bend to LEFT. Note: the total mileage is now 0.5 km (500m).
5: Drive 1.3 km, follow sharp bend to RIGHT.
6: Drive 0.1 km (100m), turn LEFT towards S.Vram.
At this point you will notice that the total distance driven from the start to the intersection is 1.9 km.
The distance shown under ETAPP is the distance from the last direction change to the current direction change. The distance under Total is the distance from the start to the direction change of the current section.
There will be control points set up throughout the rally. These serve two purposes, to give you a break from the driving and allow you to monitor your time as you progress through the rally.

You will find a recommended time to leave each control based on your start time. In the above example you should leave Comtrol 1 11 minutes after the time you recorded at the start of the rally. Remember, you loose points if you arrive too early or too late at the finish point. The control points are NOT manned.
When you reach the finish point you will record your finish time from the Scatter Rally Timer and receive a questionairre. The questions will be about things you would have observed at the control points or enroute.

When you have received the questionairre, park your car in the parking area, complete the questionairre and hand it in for scoring.
Remember, "Getting there is all the fun", winning is a bonus.
